REFINED WILDERNESS TRAINING Rooted in Respect for Nature
In a world that moves fast, true capability lies in the ability to slow down, observe, and understand. Based in the South Downs National Park, we offer premium wilderness skills training, designed not only to build competence in the outdoors, but to cultivate a deep respect for the natural world. With over two decades of teaching experience, our work goes beyond instruction—it is about developing awareness, judgement, and a lasting connection to the environments we move through.
EXPERIENCE. DEPTH. INTEGRITY.
Led by a highly experienced bushcraft specialist, with formal training in teaching and outdoor leadership, our approach is grounded in both professionalism and authenticity. As an outdoorsman, naturalist, botanist, and woodsman our teaching is informed by a detailed understanding of ecosystems, plant life, and natural systems. This knowledge has been further shaped by time spent learning from indigenous communities around the world—where respect, balance, and relationship with nature are central. The result is a standard of training that is thoughtful, precise, and deeply rooted in the principles of stewardship.
TAILORED, HIGH-QUALITY TRAINING
Every course is carefully designed to meet the needs of the individual or group. We offer:
Private one-to-one mentoring
Bespoke training programmes
Small, focused courses with a high instructor-to-participant ratio
Whether you are an individual, a family, an outdoor professional, or an organisation, your experience will be personal, considered, and delivered to an exceptional standard.
FOR OUTDOOR PROFESSIONALS
We provide advanced training and professional development for those working in the outdoor sector. Our programmes refine technical ability while deepening ecological understanding, decision-making, and instructional quality—supporting you in delivering work that is both skilled and responsible.
SKILLS WITH PURPOSE
We teach wilderness skills not as isolated techniques, but as part of a wider understanding of place. Training includes (non-exhaustive):
Bushcraft skills
Knife and tool use
Axe skills
Foraging, game preparation, wild foods and wild medicine
Backcountry cooking techniques
Primitive technology and ancestral skills
Woodcraft and carving
Rope skills
Tree and plant identification, and uses
Camp craft and pioneering skills
How to observe and understand wildlife
Woodland and habitat management
Rediscovering Perception Through Nature
Leave no trace
Every skill is taught with an emphasis on sustainability, low impact, and long-term thinking.
FOR ORGANISATIONS
Our programmes offer a refined alternative to conventional team development. In the natural environment, individuals develop clarity, resilience, leadership, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure—while gaining perspective that carries back into professional life.
A DIFFERENT STANDARD
This is not about bushcraft for its own sake. It is about understanding where you are, making informed decisions, and moving through the natural world with competence and respect.

I have worked alongside Nick for a few years now delivering Forest School training., and must say it has been a privilege to be with such a knowledgeable trainer par excellence. If you want natural history, in particular trees and a sense of how the past informs our nature connection and living today, then don’t look any further. Nick has a wealth of experience to pull on. He is a very approachable facilitator and makes things easy to understand, starting with the learner experience, building slowly and hey presto suddenly we all become tree experts! He is an excellent craftsman and teaches ‘craft’ in a very accessible way, working with the individual learner’s creativity. And what’s more he has a wicked sense of humour! I now value him both as a colleague and friend.
Nick is hugely knowledgeable but wears this lightly and is able to teach & model concepts and skills with patience and in an engaging way. His friendly and open manner encourages questions and the sharing of your own learning. He was able to scaffold my learning of a wide range of bush craft skills and knowledge in a considered and positive way and I would highly recommend him as a tutor.
